CRYSTAL-CHAIR
The CRYSTAL Chair- winner of the Decibel x Vizcom design competition draws inspiration from crystalline structures, blending bold geometric aesthetics with functional design. Created specifically for 3D printing, the chair optimizes material efficiency to minimize weight and production time while maintaining ergonomic comfort and structural stability. Unlike conventional 3D-printed furniture, which often leans toward organic, fluid forms, Deniz’s design challenges this norm with sharp, angular surfaces that enhance both visual appeal and durability. By leveraging Vizcom’s AI-driven tools, he was able to push creative boundaries, explore new structural solutions, and redefine the intersection of art, technology, and sustainability in furniture design. “The intricate angular geometry, material-efficient structure, and self-supporting forms would be challenging to achieve with conventional manufacturing. This would only be possible with very costly core and cavity shapes, as used in injection molding, etc. The design leverages 3D printing’s ability to create complex, self-supporting forms without the need for assembly.”

DENIZ-AKTAY
In 2020 Deniz founded DEZIN, with a focus on exploring the unique properties of various shapes and materials. During his studies in architecture and urban planning at the University of Stuttgart, Deniz devoted significant attention to the processes of creation, design, and drafting. These elements have continued to influence his creative work throughout his career as an architect. Deniz believes great design is about achieving the perfect balance between proportions, materials, and functionality.
